Fireant is named for,
you guessed it, although in that case the entire metroplex should be called
Fireant Hill. 4 kites in the air on a windy day is the norm
It is in Garland
off Zion Rd and I-30 it's our original nesting spot and where we learned
to go upwind.
This is the
only place windsurfers launch and you will be launching upwind. Do not
go nukin downwind here if there are lots of windsurfers out.
This is a good place
to launch and land alone without assitance from a local if you watchout
for wind shadows from the trees and the windsurfers. Drifting down to
the Last Resort landing and dropping your kite well short of the shore
homes is a good way to ride here. The shore line is really shallow near
the Last Resort but there are large beds of weeds growing under the surface
there. Beware of the Hydrilla attacking your lines.
