Rockledge was the local kite and windsurf spot for most people from Fort Worth and the mid-cities. After a serious injury there and the construction of the Gaylord Hotel on the south side of the lake created a huge wind shadow..

Warning:Do not ride here on a south wind even if your an expert. The winds are straight onshore and the rock ledges are 20 feet tall and covered with sun bathers and swimmers.

Rockledge has been abandoned for the Johnston Branch Park launch at Lake Ray Roberts for south winds. The launch at JBP is excellent for beginners and experts alike. Please do not ride here if it can be avoided but if it is totally cool then please be very careful..
